Kazakhstan’s famous figure skater Denis Ten set a new personal record in the short programme at the Nov. 24 regular Grand Prix in France, gaining the best evaluation in his career of 91.78 points.
Ten took the points lead at the end of the first part of the programme. However, his performance in the optional programme was full of little mistakes that eventually affected his final points – only 144.5 points. As a result, he had to settle for bronze.The winner was young Russian figure skater Maxim Kovtun. Previously, the 19-year-old athlete won a stage in Shanghai, where he was able to get ahead ofcurrent Olympic champion, Japanese Yuzuru Hanyu.
The final Grand Prix will be held in Barcelona, Spain on Dec. 11-14. The five strongest skaters in the world will take part in it. It is unclear if Ten will have the points necessary to participate.
