Ualiev Sport Complex Finds Itself in Demand

Ualiev Sport ComplexAKMOLA REGION – The Ualiev Sport Complex with modern European equipment was opened in Schuchinsk in the summer of 2013. Since then it has been a venue for major championships and a base for training camps. Its status as a major sports venues was demonstrated recently when it hosted the National Women’s Boxing Championship in which Akmola athletes won three gold medals.

“Head coach of the national women’s team in boxing Alexander Vysotsky was highly appreciative of this event and its organisation,” said Deputy Director of the complex Erzhan Zhetpisov. “And before that we held a boxing tournament among four teams from Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Kazakhstan [called] “Wall to Wall,” the championship of summer sports between the departments of the Kazakhtelecom Company and other competitions. In September, the complex plans to host the World Cup on radio with 600 athletes.

The Ualiev Sport Complex has also been accredited for the federations of endurance sports and the Astana basketball team. It has a hotel for 186 places with covered passages between the hotel and the sports facilities, which is convenient for athletes and a large dining room. There is also a modern game room with more than1,200 seats, gyms for wrestling, boxing, fitness facilities at European standards, summer playgrounds for mini football, basketball, tennis, a football field with artificial turf and grounds for beach football and volleyball.

The complex also hosts winter team sports competitions and is popular among the local community.
