A new high-tech device in the form of a wristwatchto help parents track their children’s location has been developed in Almaty, reported KTK television channel . Children will be able to communicate with family members via Bluetooth linked to the mobile phone of their parents by pressing a single button.
According to the device’s developers, there is a Global Positioning System (GPS) device inside the wearable locator that continuously tracks the location of the owner. Also, parents will be able to hear who is talking to their child and what is happening around him or her by turning on a special mode on the device, which can be done remotely. Thanks to applied GPS and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) technologies, parents can receive information concerning the location of the child and if a child wanders out of range, parents will be immediately alerted via text message.
The exact location of the child outside a building can be transmittedaccurately up to 20 metres. However, if a child is inside a building, the accuracy of the smart device declines. Another flaw of the gadget is its weak battery. The charge lasts only one day.
“These devices are not meant to be shockproof or waterproof, but during testings, in fact, the bracelets demonstrated their ability to resist heavy hits. Moreover, we have tested gadgets on people standing in the rain, and no problems have occurred. However, if a person uses it while in a pool, we cannot give any guarantees the device will continue working, unfortunately,” explained co-founder of the project Daniyar Tenelov.
It is also worth noting that in addition to the high cost of the gadget, clients have to pay a monthly subscription fee.
Thirty Kazakh children participated in the test of the device.
