Kazakh judo wrestler Zarina Raifova won the Open European Cup in the 78-kilogramme category, which was held May 17-18 in Orenburg, Russia.
Raifova defeated Natalya Tuktagulova, Mariam Tovmasyan and Anna Pridannikova on her way to the title.
Alexandra Podryadova won the competition’s bronze medal in the 48-kilogramme category by defeating Alana Lazarova in her final match. Katerina Nahaenka of Belarus won the gold in the 48-kilogramme category and the silver went to Anna Dmitriyeva of Russia.
Podryadova was a bronze medalist at the Junior World Championship 2006 (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic), the winner of the World Cup 2012 (Tashkent), a bronze medalist at the European Cup 2012 (Prague), a silver medalist at the World Grand Prix 2013 (Almaty, Tashkent) and took part in the London Olympics (2012) and the World Cup in Brazil (2013). She was also a silver medalist at the Kazakhstan Championship (2013). Podryadova occupies 27th position in the world rankings and 16th in the Olympic rankings.
On the final day of competition, Dilbar Umiraliyeva won the silver medal in the 70-kilogramme category and Anar Seitimova took the bronze.
The tournament gathered about 300 athletes from Austria, England, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Spain, Italy, Poland, France, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and other countries.
