Astana currently has four Gammy complexes, two of which are in Central Park. Another centre specifically designed for students has opened near the Kazakhstan Sports Complex.
The centres are open 11 a.m.-8 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. weekends. The price for the one-metre high and 60-metre long green rope route for children 4 years and up is 700 tenge (US$2). The blue rope route, measuring three-five metres high and 68 metres long, is 1,000 tenge (US$2.90) for kids up to 12. The three-and-a-half-metre high red rope route for adults and children 12 and up is 1,200 tenge (US$3.50). Regulars can purchase seasonal passes. There are age restrictions for children up to 14, who are only allowed if accompanied by parents or with the consent of their guardians.
Visitors willing to take multiple rides without removing their equipment will receive instant discounts. Discounts are also available for large families and those celebrating their birthdays, however, they will need to confirm their status and date of birth with proper documentation and identification cards.
Safety is above all, the Gammy management outlines on its website. People ride and go through all routes with special equipment to ensure safety throughout the whole stay. The ropes and routes can handle up to four tonnes of weight. In case someone is unable to complete the course, Gammy instructors will carry out rescue efforts by means of special trigger equipment. Helmets are required to avoid head injuries.
Gammy is a popular Russian network of rope complexes that is spreading fast. Centres have opened in such Russian cities as Kirov, Orenburg, Samara, Sterlitamak, Tolyatti and Ufa. The company opened its first park outside Russia last year in the Kazakh capital and has built four additional complexes.
