From coal power to clean energy
The Paper, China’s news agency, released an article on Oct. 18 about Kazakhstan’s energy reforms and Kazakh-Chinese cooperation.
“China-Kazakhstan energy cooperation has great complementary advantages in resources and markets,” said Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Zhang Xiao in a recent interview with The Paper. Amid the rapid evolution of the international energy pattern and the rapid development of international energy science and technology, energy cooperation is of strategic significance in China-Kazakhstan relations and is also the ballast stone for China-Kazakhstan pragmatic cooperation”, the article reads.
A President who knows China well
China News Network correspondent described President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev “the President who knows China well” and “a good friend of the Chinese people” during her Oct. 16 live report on the official visit.
“This visit to China is Tokayev’s second trip to China this year. In May, he went to Xian to attend the China-Central Asia Summit. We also hope that President Tokayev’s visit to China and attendance at the summit forum in October will once again witness the highlight of bilateral relations, and help China and Kazakhstan continue to be pioneers in jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative,” the correspondent said.
Xi Jinping met with the President of Kazakhstan first, which carries deep meaning
A journalist from the Chinese television channel CCTV noted in his Oct. 17 video report that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative.
“As part of the Belt and Road Forum, President Xi Jinping plans to hold bilateral negotiations with the leaders of about 10 countries. The first meeting took place with the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Because Kazakhstan is the place where the Belt and Road Initiative was born. In this regard, Kazakhstan plays an important role for China,” the TV journalist said.
Xi meets Kazakh President
Xinhua also released an article on Oct. 17 about Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s official visit to China.
Xi said he is very happy to meet his old friend again [President Tokayev]. A sound, stable and vibrant China-Kazakhstan relationship is conducive to the development and revitalization of both countries as well as to regional peace and stability, Xi said.
China supports Kazakhstan in safeguarding its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, Xi stressed.
Kazakh-Chinese tourism industry
Beijing Daily, the largest Chinese newspaper, published an article on Oct. 19 about the development of the tourism industry between China and Kazakhstan.
The article states that with the gradual restoration of the international tourism industry, the capabilities of the Kazakh airline Air Astana to operate direct flights between China and Kazakhstan are continuously increasing.
Currently, there are flights in both directions between Beijing, Astana, and Almaty. The airline plans to operate routes from Urumqi to Astana and Almaty in the near future.
