ASTANA – Chairperson of Regional of Civil Service Hub Alikhan Baimenov recently met with President of Asian Association of Public Administration (AAPA) and Professor of Public Administration at Yonsei University from Korea Pan Suk Kim in Astana to discuss bilateral relations between the Hub and AAPA, including organising conferences and joint projects.
Parties discussed preparations for the annual AAPA International Conference, which will be held in Astana on Apr. 13-14 in cooperation with the regional hub. The conference will gather leading researchers and practitioners of Asian countries to discuss public administration, including challenges and innovative approaches. A special high-level session called Pan Asian Dialogue: Effective Governance and SDGs is also planned to be held at the conference.
“The hub’s mandate is not only in promoting the civil service in the region, but also in other parts of the world. The hub puts much effort in the creating of an experts network and advocating for research and development of good practices in public administration,” Kim said.
He also highlighted the importance of the Regional hub activity in promoting excellence in civil service.
The parties agreed to organise joint events and conduct joint research projects on public administration.
The Regional Hub of Civil Service in Astana is an institutional platform for the continuous exchange of expertise and best practices in the field of civil service for the countries of the region. Currently, there are 36 countries participating in the Hub, including the United States, the European Union, countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States and Caucasus and the ASEAN.
