ASTANA – Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev spoke by telephone Jan. 12 with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the Akorda press service reported.
The presidents exchanged opinions on the situation in southeastern Ukraine. Nazarbayev called for a compromise in resolving the conflict and relieving tensions between Ukraine and Russia.
They also discussed bilateral cooperation in utilising alternative trade channels.
Poroshenko thanked Nazarbayev for the warm welcome and negotiations offered during Poroshenko’s official visit to Kazakhstan last October.
