Bakhyt Kairbekov

Bakhyt Kairbekov was presented as the new president of Kazakhfilm. He is a poet, writer, film director and author of ten books of poetry and nearly eighty documentaries.

In his remarks concerning his new position, Kairbekov talked about preparing for the filming of a 10-series movie and documentaries about the history of the formation of the Kazakh Khanate.

“The movie will consist of 10 pieces. We have the opportunity for the first time to not just impulsively say that there was Khan Abulkhair or Abylai Khan, but to tell in detail what the specificity of nomadic life was, what the political role of our leaders was as they opposed the neighbouring states in certain situations and how the Kazakh Khanate was formed. We want to tell people what led to the creation of this country,” Kairbekov said.

Kairbekov is an honoured figure in Kazakhstan. He has won the Makhambet Utemissov prize, received the Order of Kurmet (Honour) and won the Grand Prix at the third international television  and movie festival Won Together, dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (Sevastopol, Ukraine) for the film “The 316th Rifle Brigade.”
