ASTANA – The world’s largest mare’s milk processing factory and the only one of its kind in the Commonwealth of Independent States opened in June in Karaganda and is expected to begin production in the first half of August, Tengrinews.kz reported July 22, citing Galymzhan Meirambekov, director of the subcontracting companyEurasia Invest Ltd. involved with the factory.

Some 500 mares have been brought to the factory, which is equipped with German purification technology and high-tech equipment. The animals are being assessed and adapting to the new environment, Meirambekov said. The factory plans to produce 15 tonnes of dry milk per year in the early stages. Fresh mare’s milk loses its properties 20 minutes after production, therefore, specialists have developed a new method of producing dry milk to preserve the natural properties. According to Meirambekov, the next production stages will include producing sour dairy products and baby food. The factory is also planning to launch a production line of gel, body lotion and soap made of mare’s milk, which are expected to sell well in populated areas, according to Meirambekov.
Mare’s milk is known to have a rejuvenating effect and similar properties to females’ milk. It is also thought to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and cancer and remove toxins from the body.
Approximately 40 similar factories operate in Europe.
