ASTANA — Saltanat Tompiyeva, chair of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Kazakh Transport Ministry has been appointed an ambassador under the Global Ambassadors Program of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) by decision of ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar.

The appointment reflects ICAO’s high level of trust in Kazakhstan. It recognizes the country’s contribution to advancing the international civil aviation agenda, reported the ministry’s press service on Jan. 30.
Kazakhstan was selected within the ICAO European and North Atlantic (EUR/NAT) Regional Office, which unites 56 states, underscoring the country’s active role in advancing ICAO priorities under the strategic plan for 2026-2050.
As an ICAO ambassador, Tompiyeva will help raise awareness of key areas of civil aviation development, including sustainable industry growth, training and attraction of qualified aviation professionals, and expanding the participation of women and youth in the sector.
The ministry noted that the designation confirms Kazakhstan’s active role in the global civil aviation system and its commitment to sustainable development, inclusiveness, and human capital development.
