ASTANA – Self-nominated candidate for the April 26 early presidential election Abelgazy Kussainov has launched his election campaign across the country and his election headquarters, headed by Rustem Zholaman, has opened in Astana.
“We have a lot of work and instructions from Kussainov. We have launched our election campaign through printed and electronic media, meetings with voters andtraining our representatives, who will work to bring the platform of our candidate to every voter and reach the maximum number of people,” Zholaman said.
On March 30, Kussainov briefed the employees of capital’s JSC “Astana-Zelenstroi” on the main priorities of his election programme.
On March 31, the candidate visited Kostanai and met with city residents.
“The activities of our election headquarters in Kostanai region have started and individuals responsible for information activities are defined. Electioneering work will include many activities, such as meetings with students [and] employees of big and smaller enterprises, and so on. Our office in Kostanai is always open to journalists, observers. Everyone can get our leaflets and all the necessary information,” Zholaman said.
During the presentation, Kussainov spoke about the main provisions of his election platform, which emphasises environmental protection and labour rights.
“Our primary objectives should be starting to use our natural resources in a rational and planned manner; protecting the environment; introducing a planned system of state control; organising international and public events aimed at the rational use, protection and restoration of natural resources; and securing Kazakhstan’s material and cultural needs for future generations,” Kussainov stressed.
According to Kussainov, putting Kazakhstan on a path of environmentally friendly human development is his number one issue. He demonstrated the need to address the environmental aspects and issues of industrial safety during this transition.
According to the candidate, particular attention should be paid to modernising environmental policy and the role of civil society in ensuring a smooth transition to sustained green development. He says there is a need to enhance civic participation in environmental issues and conservation activities.
Also on April 2, Kussainov visited the North Kazakhstan oblast, where he presented the main provisions of his election platform to employees of industrial enterprises.
According to him, the unsustainable use of natural resources, environmental pollution and the impoverishment of biodiversity leads to the degradation of the environment. He noted that ozone depletion and the pollution of oceans, land and soil is a result of human industrial activities.
“It is important to remember that natural resources are non-renewable,” Kussainov reminded his audience.
