Consul General of Germany to Kazakhstan Michael Grau visited Uralsk on May 28 with a delegation of German businessmen to tour several local leading enterprises in hopes of finding partnership possibilities. The visitors toured the Uralsk Commercial and Industrial Company Ltd., the Glasswork-Service Ltd., Kubley Ltd., Zhaikmunay Ltd. and the regional hospital.
According to Grau, such business trips are occasionally organised by the German consulate in Almaty. Every two years, the group of German entrepreneurs looks for new avenues of cooperation with regions covered by the consulate.
On this trip, the visiting foreign businessmen included representatives of the Bauer Construction and Engineering Trust, producer of endoscopic facilities Karl Storz Endoskope, producer of water heaters and steam boilers Robert Bosch Ltd., producer of oil-refining facilities ISI Industry Service International UG, as well as other German enterprises.
According to Head of the Representative Office of the German Economy in Kazakhstan Galiya Dzhunusaliyeva, the main purpose of their office is to guide and support the economic activity of German enterprises in Central Asian countries, as well as help local business to cooperate with foreign companies.
Deputy Governor of the West Kazakhstan region Marat Karimov, presenting his region to the foreign visitors, noted that Germany is one of Kazakhstan’s major economic partners at the moment. Trade turnover between Germany and the West Kazakhstan region remains limited, however, with car and facilities imports comprising the major part of their economic cooperation.
Karimov also told the visitors about the region’s active involvement in the preparation for EXPO 2017 in Astana. Information campaigns, developing alternative energy sources, supplying food, construction work and preparing volunteers are the region’s major expo tasks, the governor said.
