5121792The Taman Ismail Marzuki concert hall in Jakarta hosted on May 13 the ceremonial opening of Days of Culture of Kazakhstan in Indonesia.

Within the Days of Culture, a gala concert with the participation of leading art masters of Kazakhstan, a photo exhibition and a film festival featuring “The Path of the Leader” and “Zhauzhurek Myn Bala” were held.

Prominent Kazakh performers as well as the Nurgissa Tlendiyev academic folklore-ethnographic orchestra Otyrar saz, ethno-folk group Beles and state dance ensemble Saltanat took part in the concert.

Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Indonesia started their dynamic development after the state visit of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Indonesia in 2012. Cultural ties are just beginning to develop. Vice-Minister of Culture of Kazakhstan Askar Buribayev and Minister of Education and Culture of Indonesia Muhammad Nuh also met during the Days of Culture to discuss increasing an exchange of professional experience between the countries.

Cultural events started with the presentation of the movie, “The Sky of My Childhood,” as well as other films shot in Kazakhstan.

Indonesian audiences responded well to the performances of Kazakh artists, Kazakh music, virtuoso kyuis and songs. Jakarta audiences were also treated to performances of Indonesian music by the Kazakh performers.

“Wonderful performances by singers, dancers and the orchestra. A complete delight! I want to express my admiration for Kazakhstan,” said Viendu Nuriyanti, vice-minister of Education and Culture of Indonesia.

“The concert of friendship demonstrated that our culture, art of music, dance art and the traditional art of the Kazakh people are at a very high level. The hall was crowded today,” Buribayev said.

In the lobby of the concert hall, a Kazakh delegation presented the photo exhibition, “Kazakhstan Today.” The exhibition included photographs chronicling the growth of Astana as well as the history, culture and traditions of the country.

In 2013, the Days of Culture of Indonesia in Kazakhstan were held, including a gala concert with the participation of leading art masters of Indonesia, a photo exhibition, an exhibition of textile products, a fashion exposition and the presentation of Indonesian films.
