On Jan. 29, 100 days before the celebration of World War II Victory Day, the Astana TV channel started broadcasting videos dedicated to the heroes of the war, also referred to as the Great Patriotic War.
The 100 informative videos in the Kazakh and Russian languages titled “Heroic Chronicles of the Kazakh People” were produced by the Astana TV channel together with the Nur Otan party. The information was released at a meeting organised by Nur Otan to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
“The broadcast starts 100 days before Victory Day, on Jan. 29. Each video will be broadcast 10 times during the day and will talk about the heroism of one of the heroes. The videos are stylised to echo the wartime era, creating the effect of ‘invigorated’ photographs,” stated a press release from the channel announcing the project.
Theprogramme’s series will acquaint the audience with interesting facts from the life of heroes from Kazakhstan and details of their exploits.
“Viewers will learn about the feats of not only the well-known characters, such as Bauyrzhan Momyshuly,Talgat Bigeldinov, Aliya Moldagulova and Manshuk Mametova, but also other no less heroic exploits of many of our fellow citizens. For example, three Kazakhs – gunner Sundetkali Iskaliyev, machine gunner Sultan Baimagambetov and anti-tank rifleman Tashtemir Rustemov – repeated the feat of the legendary Alexander Matrosov and covered enemy firing points with their bodies, sacrificing their lives to ensure the advancement of the Soviet Army,”stressed the press release.
