NUR-SULTAN – Kazakhstan’s First President Nursultan Nazarbayev recovered from the coronavirus infection, said his spokesperson Aidos Ukibay.

“I have good news. Today’s coronavirus test of the Elbasy (Leader of Nation in Kazakh) showed a negative result. According to the recommendations of doctors, Nursultan Nazarbayev will continue to maintain a self-isolation regime, work remotely and devote time to outdoor walks,” wrote Ukibay on his Twitter page.
The news about Nazarbayev’s positive test for COVID-19 came less than three weeks ago. Nazarbayev’s press service then reported there was no cause for concern and that he was in self-isolation.
In his address to the Kazakh citizens published on his website on July 3rd, Nazarbayev said he was “deeply touched by the genuine attention and moral support” from heads of states, including Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Erdogan and United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and his fellow citizens.
“It is impossible to list them all, but I read all the telegrams. Dear friends, your sincere wishes and kind attitude gave me strength and life energy. I bow to you and wish you health and success,” said Nazarbayev wishing a speedy recovery and courage to those, who are currently fighting the infection.
“The pandemic is a test for humanity,” he said.
“Doctors are at the forefront of the fight against the disease and work very hard to save lives. What they do is priceless and the current situation proves it. In the future, it is necessary to pay increased attention to domestic health care and allocate much-needed financial and material resources for its development. I take this opportunity to express special gratitude to our doctors,” said Nazarbayev.
The National Fund, which has been accumulating the nation’s windfall oil revenues since 2000, has now helped the country weather two global crises and now helps the government to curb the pandemic, he said. The fund assets currently amount to US$58.4 billion.
“If we continue to use it wisely and prudently, we can cope effectively with other potential challenges. Our advantage is that Kazakhstan has one of the lowest debts compared to other countries,” he said, noting that in the end, the future depends on the actions of people themselves.
“One must persevere, particularly young people, and one must follow the necessary hygiene rules to stay healthy for as long as possible with the hope that the vaccine will be developed soon. We need discipline and we need to care about our health and the health of loved ones as well as trust in our doctors,” said Nazarbayev.
