NUR-SULTAN – The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, in conjunction with the Centre for the Development of Labour Resources, has revised the approach for selecting educational institutions to conduct short-term training courses as part of the Enbek state programme to develop productive employment and mass entrepreneurship in 2017-2021.

The ministry expects the change will affect the relevance of the professions in the labour market and make it easier for trainees to find jobs.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 16,000 people have been trained through the programme. The ministry plans to instruct an additional 30,000 individuals.
Based on the needs of the regions, a list of the more than 200 most in-demand qualifications and skills for short-term training courses was formed as part of the Smart Data Ukimet project. The ministry has also compiled and approved a list of 100 popular service and industrial professions, including 35 jobs requiring higher education and 65 needing technical and vocational skills.
Working with the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs and support of the World Bank, the ministry formed a register of 534 educational institutions. All meet the requirements of dual training with mentoring and one-year of experience in conducting short-term vocational trainings to issue a certificate.
To be included in the register, the institutions must also have a modern material and technical base and at least a 60-percent record of employing those who have undergone training. Educational programmes for short-term vocational training should be coordinated with the regional chamber of entrepreneurs and employers.
