ALMATY –A new 100,000-square-metre shopping mall utilising innovative green building technologies will open here on Aug. 1.
The new Mega Park Mall, which is part of the MEGA shopping mall chain, will be located between Seifullin Avenue and Makatayeva Street.
About 600 trees and bushes will be planted on the mall grounds and two walls totalling 270 square metres inside the mall will be covered with flowers.
The building’s green technologies are expected to increase the facility’s heating efficiency by 85 percent. The use of light-emitting diodes will also reduce electricity demand by 10 times. Energy-saving technologies will also be used during construction.
According to French architects from MB Architects, who were involved in the project, soft lighting, nice background music and interesting art are going to create an atmosphere of peace and cosiness inside the shopping mall. A 30-metre tall Tree of Life, created by local architect Eduard Kazaryan, and several pictures by Kazakh artist Marat Bekeyev will also adorn the mall’s interior. A fountain will be placed in front of the mall.
The mall’s food court will be divided into several 100-square-metre sections to create a more intimate atmosphere. The food court will offer 1,000 seats over four cafés, 12 fast food restaurants and six conventional restaurants, including Il Patio, The Sushi planet, Viet Cafe, Kolkovna, Dining Yard and Assorti.
The first Macro centre supermarket covering almost 3,000 square metres will be located in the mall. The facility will also include a Hapyloon children’s play area and a parking lot for 1,600 cars.
