ASTANA – Professor and Rector of the Kazakh University of Arts and founder of Eurasian Symphony Orchestra Aiman Mussakhodzhayeva spoke about the orchestra’s plans for the 2015 at a briefing organised by the Central Communications Services last month. This year, continuing its tradition of promoting Kazakhstan’s image through music, the Eurasian Symphony Orchestra plans to tour Spain, Germany and South Korea.
“Sixty members of the Eurasian Symphony Orchestra have already left for Spain to give 10 concerts. They are starting from Barcelona and will then tour Spain’s other regions. This tour is part of a campaign to promote Kazakhstan abroad this year,” said the prominent violinist and People’s Artist of Kazakhstan.
After the Spanish concert series, the orchestra plans to visit Germany in March and perform 10 more concerts, and later visit South Korea where they played last year.
In 2014, the orchestra performed in London, Paris and South Korea. “Now we want to cover all the regions of Asia,” said Mussakhodzhayeva. “We have concluded agreements with 46 partner universities, mainly in Europe, but we would like to reach the countries of Latin America and Asia, too. This is what we are working on now,” she concluded.
The orchestra was established in 2008 on the 10th Anniversary of Kazakh National Academy of Music. The idea of its creation belongs to Mussakhodzhayeva who was awarded the Kazakhstannyn Yenbek Yeri (Hero of Labour of Kazakhstan) medal in December 2014, one of the highest civilian awards, for her tireless efforts in the cultural enrichment of the country.
