ASTANA – Kazakhstan’s tennis team will face Thailand in a Davis Cup World Group 2 tie in Astana on Sept. 18–19, with the winner advancing to the World Group 1 playoffs. The official draw has determined the order of the singles and doubles matches at the National Tennis Center’s Arena.

The first day on Sept. 18 will feature two singles matches, beginning at 1 p.m. Astana time. Kazakhstan’s Alexander Shevchenko will face Thailand’s Maximus Parapol Jones in the opening match. He will be followed by Timofey Skatov, who will play Kasidit Samrej.
The second day will begin with the doubles match. Kazakhstan will be represented by Denis Yevseyev and Beibit Zhukayev, who will face Thanapet Chanta and Pruchya Isaro.
The final two singles matches are scheduled to follow, with Shevchenko facing Samrej and Skatov taking on Jones. The tie will conclude on Sept. 19, with play starting at noon.
The winner of the Kazakhstan–Thailand tie will advance to the World Group 1 playoffs for the 2027 Davis Cup season. Kazakhstan currently occupies 42nd place in the Davis Cup rankings, while Thailand is ranked 60th. The two teams are meeting in the Davis Cup for the first time since 2009.
Ahead of the tie, Zhukayev said he had spent about three weeks preparing for the competition and was looking forward to partnering with Yevseyev in the doubles match.
“I prepared for this Davis Cup for about three weeks. I am looking forward to our match with Denis against Thailand. We had good training sessions, played practice sets and worked on different exercises. Overall, I feel good on court and hope we can produce a quality performance,” Zhukayev said.
Yevseyev highlighted the pair’s familiarity with each other as one of their strengths.
“This year has been difficult for us. We lost in February, and now it is important to draw the right conclusions and show what we are capable of. Beibit and I have known each other for a long time and have played together many times in both singles and doubles. We understand each other on court, and I consider that an advantage. We will try to make the most of our opportunities and give everything for the victory,” he said.
The matches will be played on hard courts at the National Tennis Center in Astana.
