Astana Arlans Beat Polish Hussars at Home

Astana Arlans, the team representing Kazakhstan in the World Series of Boxing (WSB), continued its winning streak on Jan. 24 by beating Hussars of Poland.

In the first match, Kazakh Olzhas Sattybayev routed Hamza Tuba in the category 52 kilogrammes with the score 3:0; later Zakir Safiullin lost to David Michelis of the Polish team (60 kilogrammes) 0:3.With the score tied, Madiyar Ashkeyev also lost to Steven Garrard Donelli (69 kilogrammes) 0:3, but the Croatian Hrvoje Sep boxing for Kazakhstan regained the balance by ousting Mateusz Try in a very intense bout (81 kilogrammes) 2:1. In the final decisive match, Filip Hrgovic was victorious against Paul Wierzbicki (+91 kilogrammes) 3:0 to end the encounter and lead the Arlans to their second win in a row in the team’s five-year history. The Arlans will next face the Baku Fires away on Jan. 31.
