Global Tech Weekend 2027 to Launch in Tbilisi With Startup Pitches

ASTANA – Global Tech Weekend (GTW) will hold the official launch event of its 2027 program on Dec. 5 at Mtatsminda Hall in Tbilisi. The event will feature an unconventional pitch session, with startup founders presenting their ideas to international investors aboard the Mtatsminda Ferris Wheel.

The ferris wheel session will be the evening’s main highlight. Each selected startup founder will have six minutes, or one full rotation of the ferris wheel, to pitch their business idea to investors. The pitches will also be livestreamed, allowing audiences beyond the venue to follow the presentations.

The winner will be announced later that evening during an awards ceremony.

According to the organizers, the format is designed to create opportunities for direct engagement between startup founders and investors while moving beyond traditional pitch sessions.

“The tech ecosystem has many promising startups whose growth depends, in part, on meeting the right investors, securing funding, and expanding internationally. The ‘Pitch in a Ferris Wheel’ experience is designed to facilitate these connections: six minutes, one rotation, and a direct conversation between a founder and an investor,” said Medea Janjghava, CEO of Global Tech Weekend.

Following the session, GTW will present its full calendar for 2027, along with its plans to expand its international network and establish new partnerships.

The event is expected to bring together representatives from more than 10 sectors, including technology, finance, international organizations, corporate leadership, creative industries and media.

In 2026, Global Tech Weekend expanded its activities across San Francisco, Tashkent and Tbilisi. Its Tbilisi festival, held June 19-21, brought together more than 10,000 attendees, 250 speakers, 300 investors and 150 partners from more than 12 sectors, according to the organizers.

The Global Tech Weekend 2027 Official Launch Event will be held in a closed format, with attendance available by prior registration only through Global Tech Weekend’s official Luma page.
