CIS ministers prepare for upcoming summit
The CIS foreign ministers discussed pressing topics on the international agenda and prospects for multilateral cooperation within the commonwealth.
Tileuberdi outlined Kazakhstan’s approaches to cooperation within the organization and put forward several proposals aimed at strengthening the CIS’s potential, the ministry’s press service reported.
A key focus of the meeting was preparations for the upcoming CIS Summit, which will bring together the leaders of the Commonwealth’s member states in Turkmenistan on Oct. 9.
The ministers approved statements by the heads of state marking the 35th anniversary of the CIS and addressing the preservation of historical memory.
They also endorsed draft documents to strengthen cooperation in security, economic, cultural and humanitarian affairs, as well as transport, science, space and information and communication technologies.
The meeting concluded with the participants reaffirming their commitment to implementing the agreements reached and enhancing the effectiveness of multilateral cooperation mechanisms.
Central Asia and Azerbaijan discuss regional cooperation
Tileuberdi also participated in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Central Asian States and Azerbaijan, where the participants discussed regional cooperation within the framework of the consultative meetings and current regional and international topics.
Tileuberdi highlighted the progress achieved since the first consultative meeting of the Central Asian Heads of State in 2018, noting that political dialogue had contributed to stronger mutual trust and closer ties between the Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan.
“Thanks to the political will of our Heads of State, relations between our brotherly nations have reached a qualitatively new level. The consultative meetings have provided significant momentum for deepening cooperation across trade, industrial cooperation, energy, transport, logistics and digital technologies,” Tileuberdi said.
Following the meeting, the ministers agreed on the draft agenda and outcome documents to be signed at the eighth consultative meeting, scheduled for Oct. 8 in Turkmenbashi.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is also in Turkmenistan for a working visit on Oct. 8-9 at the invitation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
