ASTANA – President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev met with President of Finland Sauli Niinistö and King Abdullah II of Jordan on June 10 and 11. The leaders had come to the Kazakh capital to attend the fifth Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
During a June 10 meeting with the Finnish leader at the Akorda presidential residence, the sides discussed key issues in bilateral trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
In addition, the heads of state exchanged views on topical issues of the international agenda.
Nazarbayev thanked Niinistö for hisacceptance of the invitation to participate in the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. He also noted that Niinistö’s visit to Kazakhstan in 2013 contributed to boosting economic cooperation as well as joint work in other priority areas.
In turn, Niinistö thanked Nazarbayev for the invitation and stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations.
On June 11, Nazarbayev met with King Abdullah II, who also participated in the fifth Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. The two leaders discussed bilateral and regional cooperation and exchanged views on international issues. Nazarbayev noted that Jordan and Kazakhstan have a close relationship.
“Your visit to our country to participate in the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions is essential. We have always had a trust-based relationship with you. Kazakhstan greatly respects your country. I would like to stress the important role you play in ensuring stability in your region. In this regard, we are always ready to support you,” the Kazakh President said.
Abdullah II thanked Nazarbayev for the invitation to visit Kazakhstan.
“For me, it is always a pleasure to meet you and get your guidance on how we can make the world better and safer through our combined efforts. For many years I have observed with admiration your peace-building activities in the region and how you bring together people and religions,” he said.
