ASTANA – Astana’s new National Academy of Choreography will open in April 2016, announced Minister of Culture of Kazakhstan Arystanbek Mukhamediuly at a Central Communications Service (CCS) media briefing on May 27.
“Construction of the Kazakh National Academy of Choreography has already begun. It is being built on 10 hectares of land and is located in an area where EXPO 2017 objects are being constructed, a little past the future botanical garden, in one of the most beautiful places in the capital,” Mukhamediuly said.
The academy is to start accepting students a month after opening, in May 2016. “That means that in September 2016 we must start teaching students in this academy,” he said.
“This academy will be one of the largest in Central Asia. In Astana we have centres of all creative directions, like the Shabyt [National Academy of Music] and Astana Opera. With the creation of the choreographic academy, centres for all types of art will be represented in Astana,” the minister concluded.
