ASTANA – Air Astana became an official sponsor and general partner of Winter Universiade 2017 on Oct.12.
“We are inspired with this opportunity to be helpful in the organisation of the Winter Universiade,” emphasised Peter Foster, Air Astana president after signing a partnership agreement with the games’ organising directorate.
The agreement requires Air Astana to discount regional and international flights for athletes and directorate, deliver a torch relay from the capital and 15 regions of the country to Almaty and promote the event.
“It is one of the largest sporting events. The fact of holding it in Almaty, for sure, will once again demonstrate the achievements of Kazakhstan to the entire world, improve its image and tourism potential. Air Astana is glad to contribute to such a significant event,” said Foster.
“Today, Air Astana is one of the best airlines in the world. Cooperation with Air Astana gives us additional reliance for further successful and a high-level Winter Universiade and confidence that it will be among the best in the history of the winter games,” said event organising directorate head Nail Nurov.
“We would like for our guests to already begin getting to know Kazakhstan on board the planes. Air Astana has agreed to give a 30 percent discount for athletes. Employees of the directorate will get free tickets to travel within Kazakhstan. And Air Astana is designated as the official torch relay provider,” Nurov said at the event.
