ASTANA – The Gakku channel award ceremony was held at the Kazakhstan Concert Hall in the capital on May 18. The spectacular performance with live sound Gakku Auenderi (Gakku Songs) featured eminent Kazakh artists and bands performing top pieces of Kazakh pop music.

The music feast was accompanied by the Zaratushtra orchestra and the ballet show “Wake Up.” The country’s most prominent humourists Tursynbek Kabatov, Gulnara Silbayeva, Marat Oralgazin and Erkebulan Myrzabek hosted the event.
Zhanar Dugalova and Ninety One’s song “Aita bersin” (Let People Talk) was marked as the most powerful performance of the evening. RinGo boy’s band celebrated the 10th anniversary of their music career and produced a unique dance presentation. Ali Okapov, Ayumi, Aikyn, Diaz Ablayev, Luina and Big Som, Makpal Issabekova, Kairat Baekenov, Kairat Nurtas, Kamshat Zholdybayeva, Serik Ibragimov and Toregali Toreali also participated in the event.

Local singers have been able to express themselves and become famous in the country and this has resulted in the growth of domestic content production with a policy of free broadcasting. The Gakku channel was created to support talented performers and give them a platform for self-realisation, reported Tengrinews.kz.
“This concert is one of the additional evidences that Kazakh music is extremely competitive and popular. Last year, we proved this by gathering 60,000 spectators at a concert in Almaty. We also try to create a legal component to give young people the opportunity to operate their rights and not only duties,” said head of Gakku channel Sanzhar Mustafin.
Mustafin also said that a television channel broadcasting exclusively Kazakh content will appear in the near future.
