Representatives of the Kazakh military-industrial complex took part in the Sept. 9-12 10th Russia Arms Expo 2015, an international arms, military equipment and ammunition exhibition in Nizhny Tagil, reported the Kazakh Ministry of Defence press service.
More than 400 exhibitors and representatives of military authorities, defence ministers and chiefs of general staffs from more than 50 countries participated.
The Russia Arms Expo offers a shooting range that allows participants to showcase the combat and performance characteristics of their arms and equipment, deliver fire aimed at targets of various degrees of complexity and assess the performance of military products on a real-time basis.
Kazakh specialists showcased the stabilised, remotely operated weapon station (SROWS), which drew interest from exhibition visitors. This system allows 24-hour-per-day remote monitoring and firing in all weather conditions. Monitoring is done with an integrated electro-optical system, which combines a thermal imaging camera, daylight camera vision, a laser range finder and weather sensors.
Kazakhstan ASELSAN Engineering, the Petropavlovsk Heavy Engineering Plant and the West Kazakhstan Engineering Company will jointly mass produce the system. In this exhibition of arms and military equipment, with a total area of more than 400,000 square metres, Kazakhstan was represented by Kazakhstan ASELSAN Engineering, which is part of the Kazakhstan Engineering group of national companies.
Kazakhstan ASELSAN Engineering was established April 18, 2011. The founders of the company are Kazakhstan Engineering (50 percent), the Turkish company ASELSAN (49 percent) and the Committee of Defense Industry of Turkey (1 percent).
