Al Jazeera published an article on Sept. 21 about Kazakhstan’s rapid push to become a regional AI hub, covering its government-backed digitalisation drive, development of local AI technologies and talent, and the environmental and human-rights concerns accompanying that expansion.
One of the article’s notable examples is how Kazakhstan’s AI sector is opening new career opportunities for women. Valeria Tio, managing director of Astana Hub, said a woman who had worked as a barista at the hub found a job as a developer after one year of studying through its Tomorrow School programme, calling it “a real social elevator.” The program has trained 500 people in 18 months, while new cohorts are now being opened across 12 regions of Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan, UK discuss cooperation in peaceful use of nuclear energy
Kazakhstan and the UK discussed prospects for cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy during a meeting between the Agency of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy, Deputy Chairman Timur Zhantikin and Lord John Alderdice, the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy for Central Asia, reported Trend on Sept. 22.
“The meeting discussed current issues and prospects for developing Kazakhstan-UK cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy,” the agency said.
Kazakhstan: A nation set to capitalise from its vast natural resources and investor appeal
Credendo released an article on Sept. 24 about Kazakhstan’s economic and investment outlook, highlighting its abundant natural resources, strong macroeconomic fundamentals and strategic position, as well as efforts to diversify through the Middle Corridor, critical minerals, infrastructure, digitalisation and AI.

Changi Airports to participate in construction of new airport in Kazakhstan’s Astana
Singapore’s Changi Airports International (CAI), a subsidiary of Changi Airport Group, will be involved in the construction of a new airport in Astana, according to the Astana akimat, reported Trend on Sept. 23.
The Astana akimat, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport and CAI have signed a Framework Cooperation Agreement aimed at developing a long-term strategic partnership in the field of airport infrastructure in the capital.
Under the agreement, the parties reached formal arrangements in two main areas: cooperation on the construction of a new airport in Astana and the development of the existing Astana International Airport.
