Shchuchinsk-Borovoe resort zone introduces year-round activities

ASTANA – The four-season concept has been introduced at the Shchuchinsk-Borovoe resort zone to provide tourists with year-round leisure opportunities. The Burabai resort annual activity calendar has been developed for 2018-2019, said Marat Igaliyev, advisor to the Akmola region akim (governor).

The summer programme is quite intense, including sport and cultural activities and various festivals and championships that will be held not only in the warm weather, but also in winter.

A peek at July showed several musical offerings. The opera “Birzhan and Sara” will be performed July 14 at Abylai-Khan glade in Burabai. The Sinegorye (Blue Mountains) bard music festival will host citizens and tourists July 20-22 at Big Chebachye Lake, while an open-air electronic music festival will open July 21 at Draft Bar.

July will also appeal to sports-minded guests. The Burabai yoga fest will open July 1 at Burabailand entertainment park. The national adult rock climbing championship will be held July 21-24. Burabai Marine Club will host a sailing regatta July 2-29. Burabai Swim 2018, when individuals can take the plunge across Burabai Lake, is slated for July 28-29.

The August calendar involves sports, cultural and international events. Race Nation Burabai awaits runners Aug. 11-12 at the national skiing base. The national biathlon championship will be held in Shchuchinsk Aug. 16-22 and an international mountain bike championship will open Aug. 25-26 at Burabai resort. The annual Burabike charity bicycle race will be held for the sixth time Aug. 30 at Hotel Rixos Borovoe. An open air 1980s-1990s retro disco will hit Draft Bar.

August is also the month for the Burabai international forum on border cooperation, to be held Aug. 8-12 at Terrassa Park. The national adult military applied sports championship will be held Aug. 21-22.

“We plan to make these events a tradition. Besides, the tourists will be able to watch the FIFA World Cup in the hotels in Burabai. We are pleased to invite residents and guests to visit the Shchuchinsk-Borovoe resort zone, enjoy nature and also participate in the planned events,” said Igaliyev.
