A bakery with a production capacity of 35 tonnes of bread products per day was launched recently in Zhezkazgan, reports forbes.kz. Ulytau nan will provide bread for Zhezkazgan, Satpayev, Karazhal, Zhairem village and the Ulytau district in the Karaganda region. The bakery offers 19 types of bread in plans to expand to 50 types, says bakery founder Yerlan Nigmatullin. The facility of 2,640 square metres is equipped with machinery from Slovenia, Italy, France and Slovakia and required investment of two billion tenge (US$5.88 million). The bakery employs 225 workers, who were trained by European experts. The average bread price in Zhezkazgan is approximately 105 tenge (US$0.3), whereas Ulytau nan will sell its bread at 75 tenge (US$0.22).

Chinese company Tielin Logistics Co. plans to construct a manufacturing complex in the Kyzylzhar district in northern Kazakhstan. The facility, requiring an investment of 80 billion tenge (US$235 million), will include the production of bearings, pulp and animal feed, as well as wheat processing and electric vehicles. It will employ more than 1,600 people. The company also plans to build a power plant and a railway stretching for four kilometres. Tielin Logistic Co. is one of the first clients of Protecting Business and Investments Project Office, recently established to facilitate investing in the Kazakh economy by shielding investors from corruption risks and alleviating bureaucratic procedures.

RG Gold, local gold mining and production company, has increased its production capacity 50 percent. Last spring, the company launched its third gold crushing and agglomeration complex on sites in the Akmola region as well as its second hydrometallurgical plant. This allows RG Gold to increase annual processing volumes from 1.3 million tonnes to 2 million tonnes and produce 1.5 tonnes of gold per year. The investment on the capacity extension of $6.7 million allowed to create 140 additional workplaces. Production of one additional gram of gold requires processing more than one tonne of ore; however, it is fortunate that it is easy to extract gold from ore on its sites, said RG Gold General Director Serik Syzdykov.

The Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) and Halyk Bank signed a memorandum to provide funds for female entrepreneurs during the recent annual congress of business women. According to the agreement, ERG will lend funds to Atameken and Halyk Bank will allocate 1 billion tenge (US$2.94 million) at an interest rate of 5 percent by the end of the year. Female entrepreneurship is a popular global trend and driver of economic growth, said Atameken Chair Timur Kulibayev.

The largest pharmaceutical plant in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be constructed in the Atyrau region, reports kazinform. The facility, worth 7.4 billion tenge (US$21.7 million), will be built jointly by Medicine, Atyrau Social Entrepreneurship Corporation and Indian Sava Health Care. It will produce 1,200 million tablets, 300 million capsules, 54 million ampoules, 12 million tubes of ointment and 16 million plastic bottles of fluids for intravenous injection per year. The materials will be distributed across all the regions. The factory will create 90 jobs.

Japanese Tokyo Rope Manufacturing recently launched a plant for engineering protection systems production in the Almaty region, according to kapital.kz. The facility is capable of manufacturing 17,000 tonnes of steel products per year, including drill anchors, high-strength metal cables and steel zinc-coated grids for mining and quarrying. Almaty has become the starting point for spreading Japanese technologies across the region, noted Board of Directors Chair Shigeto Tanaka. Founded more than 130 years ago, Tokyo Rope Manufacturing is a leading steel cable producer and its cables were used for the construction of 12 largest bridges out of 20 across the world.
