ASTANA – Gennady Golovkin and Mike Tyson are expected to come to Astana for a professional boxing event and WBC Convention during the international exhibition EXPO 2017.

The Astana EXPO 2017 National Company, the Akimat (city administration) of Astana, Kazakhstan’s Boxing Federation and World Boxing Council and Diamond Ring Promotions signed Sept. 16 a memorandum of cooperation
The memorandum’s goal is to establish partnership and develop cooperation among the above-mentioned organisations to hold professional boxing-related events, including the 55th jubilee Convention of the World Boxing Council and a so-called boxing evening in September 2017 in Astana during EXPO 2017.
“On behalf of the World Boxing Council, I would like to say that I am glad that the WBC jubilee summit will take place in Astana during EXPO 2017. More than 165 countries will send their delegates to it. All of them will be able to see the capital of Kazakhstan and admire its beauty,” WBC Spokesperson Oksana Semenishina noted.
“EXPO 2017 is a world-class event to be hosted in the Kazakh capital city. Plenty of large-scale events will be organised in this period and some of them are of international importance. In my opinion, the memorandum will occupy a special place in the range of events to be held within EXPO 2017,” Deputy Mayor of Astana Yermek Amanshayev said.
To date, 103 countries and 17 international organisations have confirmed their participation in the upcoming exhibition. In general, the event is expected to receive more than 2 million visits.
