ASTANA – Hundreds of food industry professionals gathered May 20-22 at the Foodweek International Exhibition in Almaty’s International Cultural & Sport Centre named after Baluan Sholak. More than 50 companies from 12 countries participated in the annual event.
“The Foodweek exhibition contains everything that is connected with the food industry. That is: foodstuff and drinks, food industry equipment, packing equipment and agricultural technologies. This was the 20th exhibition that our company has held in Almaty. … The primary objective of the exhibition is to bring producers and consumers together. That is foodstuff producers with foodstuff sellers, producers of food industry equipment with foodstuff plants,” said Director of the Department of Agricultural and Food Industry Exhibitions of TNT Productions Gennadiy Dyakin in an interview with The Astana Times on May 26.
Dyakin reported that there are two major food industry exhibitions in Kazakhstan: Foodweek and Worldfood, saying: “Foodweek is a very important event because it is really international. Exhibitors arrived to Almaty from Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan and France. Visitors arrived from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia and countries of the far abroad. I am sure that the exhibition is very effective and achieves its goal. The majority of participants are satisfied by its results and say that they found new Kazakhstan clients.”
Marketing expert from the Barnaul milk products plant in Russia Olga Bolotova said that her company “decided to participate in this exhibition because the Kazakh market is really interesting for us. Our prices are very competitive. Also, I would like to say that the major part of milk products in the Kazakhstan market are produced using milk fat substitutes. Our company offers absolutely natural products. Besides, Kazakhstan citizens like Altai products because our region is famous for its cheeses.”
She said that Russian companies are very interested in Kazakhstan and her company doesn’t want to stay on the sidelines.
Foodweek consists of four parts: FoodEXPO, PackTECH, FoodTEK and AgriTEK. It is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of National Economy and the Almaty akimat (city administration).
