Ten Wins Merano Cup

TenKazakhstan figure skater Denis Ten took first place in this year’s Merano Cup in Merano, Italy, earning 231.12 points in the competition. Daisuke Murakami of Japan took second place and Paolo Baccini of Italy third. Ten improved on his fourth place result at the Cup of China on Nov. 1-3, where he competed despite back pain.

After this victory, Ten has 250 points in the International Skating Union (ISU) scoring system and is ranked fifth. His next competition is the Ice Challenge tournament on Nov. 20-23 in Austria.

Ten, who has been named Honoured Master of Sports in Kazakhstan, placed second at this year’s World Championships in Canada. He won gold at the 2011 Asian Winter Games.

The closing ceremony of the Merano Cup was held on Nov. 20. The competition has been held every year since 1997.
