Kazakhstan, TSA Boost Aviation Security for Direct US Flights

ASTANA — To establish direct flights between Kazakhstan and the United States, the Kazakh aviation regulators hosted representatives from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), led by its regional attache Chris Hadinger, from Dec. 3-5. The visit focused on assessing and enhancing aviation security protocols.

According to the press service of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan (AAK), the U.S. delegation, supported by the Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) program of the U.S. Embassy in Astana, had meetings with the Civil Aviation Committee of the Kazakh Ministry of Transport and the AAK. 

Key discussions focused on aviation security cooperation, exchange of expertise and preparations for the launch of direct flights. TSA representatives highlighted the high level of collaboration between the aviation authorities of Kazakhstan and the United States, as well as their commitment to meeting all required safety standards necessary for this initiative.

Additionally, TSA and EXBS representatives observed Astana Airport’s perimeter security, access control systems and measures ensuring cargo safety, mail and on-board meals.

Establishing direct flights is expected to significantly bolster economic, cultural and tourism ties between Kazakhstan and the United States. This project is aimed at expanding transport accessibility, improving passenger services and increasing Kazakhstan’s attractiveness in the international arena.

Efforts to fulfill the project’s goals will continue in compliance with all international requirements and standards to ensure a high level of safety and quality of services for passengers.
