ASTANA – Popular K-pop group Kandis delighted audiences by performing the Kazakh hit “Dem Alam” (“I’ll Take a Rest” in Kazakh) during the fourth episode of the Silk Way Star international vocal competition on Oct. 12.

In this episode, contestants performed songs from other countries in their original languages. Michelle Joseph from Mongolia and Yazmin Aziz from Malaysia tied for first place, each earning 120 points.
After four episodes, Kazakhstan leads the competition with 470 points, followed by Mongolia and Malaysia, both with 450 points. No contestants were eliminated in this round.
A week earlier, all participants performed Kazakh hits in their native languages, reported Kazinform.
Silk Way Star is recognized as the first Asian vocal competition of its kind, uniting performers from 12 countries – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, China, the Kyrgyz Republic, Malaysia, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and South Korea. The international project includes 10 episodes, each lasting over 100 minutes, and is broadcast in Kazakh, Chinese, and English.
The grand final is scheduled for Nov. 22 and will air live on Jibek Joly TV channel and major networks across participating countries. The winner will be chosen based on a 50/50 combination of jury scores and online audience voting, with the show expected to reach over 1 billion viewers worldwide.
