Starting Dec. 25, 2026, the airline plans to operate seasonal direct flights between Almaty and Langkawi three times a week using Airbus A321neo aircraft, according to the Kazakh Ministry of Transport. The new route is expected to expand Kazakhstan’s international air connectivity and strengthen tourism links with Malaysia.
Meanwhile, from Dec. 11, Air Astana plans to launch direct flights between Astana and Bangkok twice a week using Airbus A321LR aircraft. The new capital-to-capital route will increase the total number of flights between Kazakhstan and Thailand to 20 per week across four routes.
Currently, Kazakhstan is connected with Thailand through three routes: Almaty–Phuket, operated by Air Astana with seven weekly flights; Almaty–Bangkok, with six weekly Air Astana flights and three operated by Thai AirAsia X; and Shymkent–Bangkok, operated by SCAT with two weekly flights.
The new Astana–Bangkok service is expected to expand opportunities for tourism and business travel and further strengthen ties between Kazakhstan and Thailand.
