AIFC FinTech Hub participates in Startup Nation festival in Thailand

NUR-SULTAN – Fintech Hub, which is part of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), participated in the recent Startup Nation festival in Bangkok, Thailand. Fintech Hub presented three startups, which became finalists in a global Visa programme representing financial technology (fintech) startups.

“The values of such an event are the exchange of experience, expansion of horizons, the opportunity to tell the world about themselves and meetings with experts who can give good advice,” said Rahmet App CEO and partner of ChocoFamily holding Nurken Rzaliyev.

The AIFC will strive to further strengthen relationship with the National Innovation Agency of Thailand for the benefit of our fintech startups and collaborate toward strengthening fintech ecosystem between South-East Asia and Kazakhstan,” said AIFC Chief Development Officer Kairat Kaliyev.

The event was organised by the National Innovation Agency of Thailand and included conferences and exhibitions featuring startup development in a wide range of areas. The festival is the largest event of its kind in ASEAN. Overall, more than 60,000 visitors and more than 400 participating startups attended.

Fintech Hub presented three startups at the International startup pavilion. All three startups were the finalists of the Visa Everywhere Initiative, a global Visa programme supporting financial technology startups.

Bankmarket (VISA Everywhere Initiative finalist) is a financial marketplace for the new generation, which allows banks and non-banking financial institutions to meet the many and complex needs of customers. Bankmarket.uz is offering a one-stop shop for financial services and products, news and financial education, robo-advisors and chatbots, Remote Client Identification and Mobile payment.

Rakhmet App (VISA Everywhere Initiative finalist) represents ChocoFamily, the biggest e-commerce holding in the Central Asia region with $150 million in gross billings in the last year and impressive 12.4 percent share of all e-commerce market in Kazakhstan. They are the leading Fintech, health-tech company with 1,800 merchants and 35,000 active customers.

In May, representatives of the National Innovation Agency of Thailand visited the AIFC Fintech Hub to discuss potential cooperation to develop the Fintech ecosystem between Kazakhstan and Thailand.
