“The Kazakh TV television channel is a flagship of our country’s information promotion abroad. Available in 118 countries, Kazakh TV performs an important strategic mission on clarifying foreign policy initiatives of the head of state, global initiatives of our state, promoting events, such as EXPO 2017 and the Universiade in Almaty. I am sure that Kazakh TV’s rebranding will allow improving the quality of our product, and increase the viewing audience coverage,” the minister said at the channel’s presentation in the Central Communications Service, according to the news agency.

Minister of Information and Communications Dauren Abayev said at a launching ceremony that the channel’s volume of news and analytical programmes will decline 15 percent. In its new format, Kazakh TV will focus more on educational programmes about culture, traditions, economy and unique nature of Kazakhstan. According to the minister, new television programmes and projects will be more attractive not only for foreigners but also domestic audiences, Tengrinews.kz writes.

The channel’s language policy has been modified too. Programmes will be broadcasted in Kazakh and Russian languages for domestic audience while for overseas audience in Kazakh and English.

Kazakh TV updated its logo along with its new airtime design. Their logo has graphic and verbal elements now, a symbolic image of a steppe eagle enclosed into a square and the title “Kazakh TV.” Channel Director Andrei Tarakov noted that continuity must be seen in the logo.

“We had a logo with an eagle in the middle and the name of the channel, this idea belonged directly to the President of the nation. We see an eagle here but it was changed and fit into a profile. The spelling of the channel was chosen from several options, we consulted an expert and decided that it is stylish, written with runic letters and the bond with history is traced in it. Also the three lines of the logo can be tied to the family of Khabar holding,” Tarakov said, the news agency reports.
