Police to Patrol Yessil on Domestically Assembled Boat

ASTANA – A Kazak-produced Kazboat-47 police patrol boat is out to patrol in the water area of the Yessil River in Astana, reported the press service of the capital’s department of internal affairs.

The police boat features a signalling loudspeaker with a flashing light, portable radio station, life vests, fire extinguishers and first aid medical kit, Express-K reported.

The standard set of gear for the Kazboat-47 features tanks of full buoyancy, steering gear reduction, wheel and cables, bilge pump (5,000 litres per hour), mount bracket for the gas/reverse machine setting, breaker, accumulator pallet and navigation lights, according to lodki-kazboat.kz. This boat costs a little over 1 million tenge (about US$3,500).

The boat is about five metres long and over one and half metres wide. An equipped shell weights 250 kilogrammes and has a carrying capacity of 700 kilogrammes. It has an engine capacity of 60 horsepower and a passenger carrying capacity of five persons.

The capital city’s policemen will use the boat to patrol and conduct search and rescue operations in the waters of Astana, according to head of Astana’s Department of Internal Affairs Major General of police Amantai Aubakirov.

Aubakirov said the boat will be a complete police station in the water.

The boat’s crew will consist of two police officers and a boat captain and the boat will patrol from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. daily, according to news souses.
